① BINGO game rules apply in this activity.

② The teacher or a student calls out a number from numbers 1~20.

③ If the called out number is on the student's worksheet, that number will be marked with a circle.

④ If a student marked four (4) numbers, vertical, horizontal, or diagonal, the student gets a BINGO.

⑤ The teacher can reward the students with stickers or signatures.

ESL Game Idea: Interview Activity (Color and Animals)

This is an interview activity / mission game using the following expressions:
"What color do you like? I like (red)."
"What animal do you like? I like (dogs)."

Replaceable Expressions: (colors) red, yellow, pink, green, purple, orange, blue, black, white, gold; (animals) cats, dogs, cows, pigs, pandas, monkeys, lions, tigers, snakes, horses

★ Game Instructions ★
① Student 1 (S1) asks Student 2 (S2) two questions:
-- "What color do you like?"
-- "What animal do you like?"

② Student 2 (S2) answers the two questions by replying:
-- "I like (red)." <--- example answer
-- "I like (dogs)." <-- example answer

③ S1 writes 1 on each box of "red" and "dogs".

④  S1 and S2 switch roles.

⑤ When S1 and S2 are done, they look for another partner to do the Q&A.

⑥ All students should ask all his or her classmates to determine the most or least popular color and animal in their class.

ESL Game Idea: Matching Game (Jobs)

This is a matching game software related to jobs / occupations vocabulary.

★ Game Instructions ★
① The teacher divides the class into 2-4 groups.

② Each member of the group will take turns in matching a particular job vocabulary.

③ To match each jobs vocabulary, the student has to choose two items from the screen, by clicking one from the top row (red) and one from the bottom row (gray).

④ If the two cards match, the group garners a point. (+1)

⑤ Else if the cards don't match, no points for the group. The other group(s) has (have) the chance to play the game. 

⑥ Each time the clicked card is revealed, the student has to say the vocabulary aloud.

⑦ The group, which has the most number of matched cards, wins the game.

Note: To run this software, .html file and data folder must be downloaded.

ESL Game Idea: Alphabet Mystery Game

Post No. 7:
This is a pair activity related to the English alphabet (A~Z). With this activity, the students get to practice their speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills.

★ Game Instructions ★
① Every game, the students choose five (5) letters of the alphabet and write them down on the right side of the worksheet "Your (5) chosen letters (じぶん)".

② Once their done, they find a pair to do the activity. To start up, they do Janken. The one who lost the Janken (S1) gets to ask the question *"What do you want?"  and the other student (S2) answers the question by saying "(*A), please." 

Notes:
* Target questions / expressions can be changed depending on your lesson.
* Refers to each letter of the alphabet 

③ If the letter requested by S2 is one of the letters chosen by S1, S1 will answer *"OK!".

④ S2 will do the following: (a) encircle (O) that letter in the alphabet box and (b) write that letter on of the boxes "Your friend's (5) chosen letters (ともだち)".

⑤ Else if the letter requested is not one of the chosen letters, S2 will cross it out (X).

⑥ Then S1 gets to ask for a letter to S2. (S1 and S2 take turns in doing Q & A.)

⑦ Whoever guesses the five (5) chosen letters wins the game.

ESL Game Idea: Interview (How are you?)

Post No. 6:
This is a an activity for the students to ask each other's feelings / moods.

★ Game Instructions ★
① All students will go around the classroom asking their friends "How are you?".

② The friend being asked will answer based on the target vocabulary: good, great, happy, sad, hungry, thirsty, sick, sleepy, hot, and cold.

③ The student asking the question will write his friend's name on the specified box beside the feeling / mood which his friend answered.

④ All students are required to finish the interview sheet (1...10)

Optional: The teacher can reward the students with stickers

ESL Game Idea: "What's this?" Guessing Game

Post No. 4:
Here is a good game idea for practising the expression "What's this? It's ~."

★ Game Instructions ★
It is a pair interview activity in which S1 and S2 will alternately do Q&A about the object that they have chosen from the toolbox.

Each person has 5 chances of guessing the object:
-- If the guess is wrong, the one who asks the question has to mark "X" on the 5 boxes on the lower right corner of the toolbox.
-- Else if the guess is right, he or she has to mark "O" in the box and the pair game is finished.

All students have to do the interview activity three times with three different friends in the classroom.

ESL Game Idea: Numbers Janken Game

Post No. 3:
Here is a good game idea for practising lower graders (Grades 1 & 2) with numbers 1~10.

★　Game Instructions ★
①　Make a pair. Numbers 1 to 10 correspond to 10 Janken rounds and 10 friends. Points are decided on how a student wins the janken game.
---- If he wins by "Rock", the student gets 1 point.
 ---- Else if he wins by "Scissors", the student gets 2 points.
 ---- Else if he wins by "Paper", the student gets 3 points.
 ---- Else if he loses the janken, the student gets 0 point.

② Every point garnered by the students should be added to a corresponding number (1....10) to get the results. (addition practice / review).

③ The number Janken game winners are decided based on how many Janken rounds they won.
